What DataFrugal is not
DataFrugal is not a validated GxP system, and it does not provide FDA 21 CFR Part 11 electronic signatures. It does not replace your manufacturing, laboratory, or quality management systems. Use it for the documents that sit around that regulated work — SOPs, internal audit reports, vendor and CRO agreements, training records, and other quality or compliance documents — so they are safely stored, kept for as long as your policy needs, and traceable when someone asks who saw them.

Four things DataFrugal does for every document your team stores with it.
Documents can't be quietly changed or deleted
Set how long a document must be kept, and it locks for that period. No one — not even an administrator — can alter or delete it early. If a document genuinely needs to come down sooner, two different administrators must approve the request together. No one can approve their own request.
Every access is on record
Every time someone downloads a document, DataFrugal records who did it and when. There is no way to view a file's contents without downloading it, so every read leaves a trace — useful the moment an auditor asks who has seen a document.
Keep documents for as long as your policy needs
Some documents need to be kept for many years. You choose the number of days a document must be retained, and it can only be increased later, never reduced, without an approved request.
Vendor and CRO files stay controlled
Only the person who uploads a file can share it, and the people they share it with cannot pass it on further. So you always know exactly who could have seen a contract or a vendor file.

What kind of documents is DataFrugal meant for?

Can we prove who accessed a document if we're audited?
Yes. Every download is recorded with who requested it and when. Because there is no way to view a file's contents without downloading it, this record covers every time someone has looked at a document.
Can a document be deleted before its retention period ends?
Only through a request that two different administrators must approve together. No one can approve their own request, and if approval isn't given, the document stays locked.
Is our data stored in India?
On our AWS-backed plan, yes — your files are stored on AWS in Mumbai, and our application also runs on AWS in Mumbai. Our Wasabi-backed plan stores files outside India. Tell us your requirement and we'll recommend the right plan.
